Reflections on Martin Luther King
A great prophet for peace and equality is remembered today … by banks and the Post Office being closed. Hopefully some will watch a clip from the famous “I have a dream” speech during their evening news.
I will tell you the truth – I don’t want to dream anymore. We’ve been asleep too long. It’s time to wake up and demand that the visions of this great man who backed his words with actions be fulfilled.
Let’s start by ending the war. Then let’s move on to ensuring that every child has a home, healthcare and an education. Let’s teach radical ideas like Humanities, Civics, Cultural Diversity, and Critical Thinking.
Demand a revolution in the way we think about each other. Let’s throw away the politically correct bullshit about “We’re all one race … the HUMAN race” and learn how to love the difference in one another. Talk to someone and stop fearing them … radical and simple.
Let’s demand diplomacy and honesty and accountability. Let’s throw away politicians and demand policy makers. Let’s go back to our democracy and tell corporations that they do not have the same rights as human beings.
Let’s stop name calling. Let’s analyze the policy instead of insulting the person.
Let’s do what makes sense – what is rational and what is right.
Let’s wake up and stop dreaming.
G-d bless MLK ~
